Celebrating LBJ and Ann This Week

By Christina Gomez, Digital Director

Bold, steadfast, quick-witted, perhaps a little stubborn.

President Lyndon Baines Johnson and Governor Ann Richards defined what it means to be a Texan.

Lucky for us, they also happen to define what it means to be a Democrat. LBJ used his time as President to champion civil rights and reduce poverty. And Ann Richards opened the doors of our government, proving along the way that, in Texas, there’s no limit to how far you can go.

LBJ’s birthday is this week, and Ann’s is coming up on Labor Day. So we’re celebrating with some of their most unforgettable one-liners.

Pick your favorite quote from the ever-quotable LBJ or Ann Richards (or both!), and send a card to your friends in honor of their birthday week.

We’ve got several awesome cards you can choose from. My personal favorite comes from the great Ann Richards: “I’ve been tested by fire, and the fire lost.”

Find your favorite LBJ or Ann quote, and honor their memory by sending it to a friend.
